Which schemes fund windows, doors and insulation in Wales?
Two schemes fund energy improvements for Welsh homes in 2026: Nest, the Welsh Government’s Warm Homes programme, and ECO4, the supplier-led scheme that runs across Great Britain, Wales included, until 31 December 2026. Neither one is set up mainly for windows or doors.

Who qualifies?
Nest help goes to owners or private renters on a means-tested benefit or a low income, whose home has an EPC rating of 54 (band E) or lower, or 68 (band D) or lower where someone in the household has an eligible chronic health condition. Use the checklist below before you call.
- Your tenure: you own the home or rent it privately.
- Your income: someone in the household receives a means-tested benefit, or the household is on a low income.
- Your EPC rating: the home is rated 54 (E) or lower.
- Health: the home is rated 68 (D) or lower and someone has an eligible chronic health condition.
ECO4 eligibility is set through the scheme and the energy suppliers delivering it, so ask your supplier directly rather than relying on a third party’s summary.
Can you get a grant to replace a conservatory roof?
A grant to replace a conservatory roof is unlikely in Wales, because Nest’s eligibility page centres on insulation and heating and ECO4 rarely covers glazing work such as replacement windows.
An old polycarbonate or glass roof lets heat out in winter and in during summer, and a solid insulated roof deals with that directly. Our warm conservatory roofs use the LEKA system, made by LEKA Systems in the UK, with a U-value as low as 0.15 W/m2K. Replacing a translucent roof with a solid one is normally treated as needing building control involvement, and we tell you on the survey whether your job needs sign-off.

Which grant scams and cold callers should you avoid?
Grant scams around windows and insulation often start with a cold call, text or doorstep visit promising free double glazing, followed by a request for an upfront fee or bank details to secure the grant. Genuine schemes publish their own contact details, so ring Nest or your energy supplier on a number you have found yourself.
- A caller says you have already been approved for a grant you never applied for.
- You are asked to pay a fee before any work or assessment.
- The caller wants bank or card details over the phone.
- You are pressed to sign on the day.
- The company has no fixed address or landline you can check.

What if you do not qualify?
Households that do not qualify for Nest or ECO4 can still manage the cost by phasing the work, starting with the rooms that lose the most heat, and by asking about payment options on the survey. Phasing lets you replace the worst windows or the conservatory roof first and plan the rest.
