What are tilt and turn windows and how do the two actions work?
A tilt and turn window opens two ways from a single handle. A casement window is hinged on one side and opens outward, which is the traditional British choice and works well across most houses. A tilt and turn opens inward and adds the tilt position, which is where it pulls ahead for specific homes. If you live above the ground floor and cannot safely clean outside glass, or you want secure background ventilation you can leave overnight, tilt and turn earns its place. If you have a standard house with easy outside access, a casement is usually the more familiar and slightly cheaper pick.
